Too much paper!

As I begin to write this post, Cody is doing his homework from his perch at the breakfast bar in the kitchen. He just hollered to me “Mom, it smells nasty in here. That’s because I farted. And it’s really really nasty. You do NOT want to come in here.” I hollered back, “thanks for the warning” and he says, “You’re welcome. And.. oh man.. I farted again so you might want to stay out of here longer”. He’s going to hate me later in life for my posting this, huh? Then again, maybe not. Boys are too funny. I don’t think my daughter would ever dream of admitting such a thing, let alone shout it across the house.

Anyway, today was another paperwork day. I always seem to be swimming in it. I had to sort out some dentist bills, find some missing receipts, sort through the junk mail, then sort through the mounds of school work our kids bring home. I swear I toss a small tree’s worth of paper into the recycle bin every week. Sometimes it makes me sad how much we end up tossing. I know it’s being recycled.. but still. It seems a shame! Especially all the junk mail we get every single day that I toss without even opening. Occasionally I’ll get some decent coupons or a fun catalog (like this one I got with platform shoes in it - fyi: this link contains models in lingerie) and sometimes I’ll put the catalogs in the bathroom for perusing when … well, when boredom hits, but mostly I toss it.

  1. Just remember, you’re saving paper by writing in a blog.

  2. I feel buried under paper on a daily basis - I know just what you’re saying…just with fewer kids bringing in paper!

  3. To help eliminate paper bills at our house (w/ some added motivation — ie a contest to win $2500 Cash) we signed up for E-Billing for our Gas Bills last night. Though, I have to say I will miss getting the extra piece of mail… even if it was a bill.

Emails are so common now-a-days I don’t even flinch at them…

It’s nice to receive an actual letter post here and there.
