The Holidays were Harder than I Expected

I didn’t do so well with eating a “diabetic diet” over Thanksgiving. I did have only one plate with smaller portions, so that’s good… in fact, on Thanksgiving day I did great. It was the leftovers after that got me. We didn’t have *that* many left overs but I ended up eating leftover stuffing AND potatoes for lunch the next day and the shot my BG up to 180. :( Since I had blown it, I felt justified in eating a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream after dinner. lol It was a small one.. but you know, it made me feel like crap so I just have to remember that feeling for the next time. I do NOT enjoy feeling yucky at all. (And I wonder how I lived feeling like that for so long without noticing something was wrong??) So I’ve done better since then and feel much better, now, especially with how active I was yesterday.

I picked up a scale yesterday and finally weighed myself. I was shocked to see that I’ve only lost 5 lbs!!! I know I’ve lost inches. My clothes are more loose, my bras don’t fit so I couldn’t believe I’ve only lost 5 lbs! A friend weighed herself too to be sure it was correct, and it was. So we’re thinking it’s possible that since I’m more active now that I’ve converted the weight to muscle? I’ll go with that. It makes sense because I’ve definitely lost the inches. I was just so suprised I had not lost much actual weight.

Now to keep my self from becomming obsessed with my scale…

  1. You’re doing fine honey. Just remember to keep monitoring your blood sugars.

Check the scale once a week, or maybe even once every two weeks. A watched pot never boils, and a watched scale only makes food taste bad.
