Stupid People Bullet Style
I’m shamelessly stealing Bullet Sunday from Dave over at — EDIT — WARNING!! — DO NOT click this link if cartoon pictures of nasty bodily functions gross you out or offend you — www.blogography.com. So here’s Bullet Sunday #1 for SpacyTracie.com
Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? That movie really bothered me… I mean, sure it was funny and… well… stupid. It bothered me because I could totally see it happen. Lately I’ve seen some really crazy-stupid stuff and I wonder just WHAT, if anything, these people are thinking™? And when I see these things, I think of that movie.
- On the way home from the kids back to school BBQ, we saw a father riding his bike. The father was wearing a helmet, but the approximately three year old child he had balancing on the seat, holding on to his waist for dear life with feet dangling on either side of the seat did not have a helmet. That was bad enough but his daughter was riding a bike next to him wearing a helmet and she too had a toddler balancing on her seat wearing no helmet. So the bike riders are wearing helmets but the little babies they are putting in danger by having them double-ride in a very awkward and wrong way aren’t wearing helmets? !!! Just…WTF?
- Today we dealt with another case of stupid people walking in front of cars. We went to the Sausage Fest (where Kevin’s girlfriend was performing) and as were were looking for a place to park nearby this couple pushing a baby stroller were walking down the middle of the road. They were dead center with a string of cars behind them. It wasn’t like they didn’t see us. The woman even glanced back at us, but they just kept walking. There was plenty of room to move to the side and let cars by. This wasn’t a parking lot.. this was a street. I guess they felt they had the right of way? I guess they didn’t care that they were causing a backup in traffic? Just… walking along in the middle of the street, just… because? Stupid.
- I see stupid drivers all the time. I’m somewhat of a defensive driver. I don’t drive too fast, but I’m not pokey. I don’t ride people’s bumpers and always keep a safe distance from the cars in front of me when I’m on the freeway. As such I get cut off a lot. People see that space and cut in… Stupid! Today we were on the freeway and this HUGE motor home pulling a big trailer sped by us doing about 80 MPH in the fast lane in a 55 MPH zone. This in itself is pretty stupid but it was very windy today and their trailer was all over the place. I was almost in a panic over it because the trailer kept fish-tailing behind them and crossing over the lanes. It came close to hitting the guardrail several times and everyone driving around them slowed down a bit to give them LOTS of room. No one wanted to pass or be anywhere near them. I mentioned to Jack that I was tempted to call the police and report their reckless and out-of-control driving. Maybe we should look into some radar detector reviews. If we had one we’d at least know if there are police nearby to report idiots like this.
- The people who live on the street one block over from us let their kids play in the middle of the road unsupervised. These kids do whatever they like including playing chicken on their bikes with oncoming cars, they like to throw stuff at oncoming cars, or they just stay where they are and act totally put out that they might have to move so a car can pass. These are YOUNG kids, one of them is no more than four or five. I’m always terrified for these kids when I drive by their house and I’ve told them they need to move and not play in the street before. They just make faces at me. I don’t blame the kids.. I want to know where the stupid parents are?
In the news we keep hearing of these accidents involving really bad choices on what might be fun. That fun often comes at a high price when kids are killed. (Such as pulling your kid behind your car on a rope in the snow… which happened in our city last winter.) I just feel like people are getting dumber and dumber and if it continues, the human race may just become dumb enough to replace the water supply with Gatorade.

The opening of the movie Idiocracy where they explain how people are getting more and more stupid is so eerily accurate as to be prophetic. I look at the world around me and wonder…
Hey, we just watched that movie a week or so ago. Weird.
The part where he convinces them that the plants need water ‘because the plants talk to him’ had me literally laughing out loud.
