Stephen King rocks my socks
Last night Jack and I were bored after the kids went to bed and there was nothing on TV or recorded on our DVR. We checked out what was available on pay-per-view and discovered the Director’s Cut of 1408 was on the list. We didn’t even hesitate as we ordered it then got all snuggly under a blanket while we watched in anticipation. I liked the movie even though it didn’t stay true to the written short story.
As you may know from reading this blog, viewing my MySpace, or if you participated in the recent contest held here, my favorite author is Stephen King. I’ve been reading his books for over 20 years now. My very first Stephen King book was Salem’s Lot and it scared me silly. I was a young teenager when I read it and I thought I could never read another King book again. That was short lived. As soon as I saw the movie Carrie I had to read the book. Then I read Firestarter and realized Stephen King books offered so much more than terror or horror. Not all of Stephen King’s books are scary. Some are disturbing, some are thought provoking, some make you sleep with the light on. I became hooked and started reading everything he wrote.
The Stand is probably my favorite but it’s hard to choose just one. I also really loved The Green Mile. Heck I’ve loved almost all I’ve read from Stephen King so it’s hard to narrow it down to a favorite. I recently finished reading Stephen King’s latest collection of short stories, Everything’s Eventual which includes 1408. I enjoy these short story collections. I read every night before falling asleep and when reading a collection of short stories I look forward to the new adventures every night.
Today I found out the next thriller, The Mist by Stephen King is coming to theaters November 21st. You know an author is doing something right when novel after novel and book after book, and even short story after short story gets made into a movie. But The Mist? SPOOKY! I can’t wait. I remember reading this short story way back and being spooked whenever we had fog for a long long time. Sometimes I still get spooked when it’s foggy outside as memories of that story come drifting back. If you’re a Stephen King fan, or if you’re curious, you might want to check out the site and trailers found within. It looks like The Mist is going to be another good one!

My first Stephen King book was Cujo. I’ve never been so afraid while reading a book as I was while reading that one.
Oh yeah, Cujo was pretty freaky.
When I read the short story “The Mist”, it had me paranoid to go out in the fog for the longest time, LOL.
SK is my favorite author too.
Angelika, I KNOW. Fog is scary after reading that book. It’s foggy here today, too. Go figure.

I am his number 1 fan.
Heh.. SCARY Cathy-friend.
I love Stephen King,
They should make a “lord of the rings” type movie(s) from the Dark Tower series!!
Bryan, I agree! That would be awesome.
