Single parent for four days

Today started out with Cody waking us up bright and early. At first he was just like, “Hi guys, how’s it going… By the way I took a peek and the Easter bunny was here”. He was very nonchalant about it and made small talk for about 3 - 4 minutes then suddently, “Come on guys, aren’t you going to get up!?!”. It was then very apparent his chatter was just him trying to contain himself and really what he was saying to us was, “GET UP YOU LAZY BUMS! THE EASTER BUNNY LEFT ME GOODIES AND YOU’RE KEEPING ME FROM THEM!!!!”

The day went well from there. Jack’s kids came over and we all hung out. The boys played some Magic the Gathering while Melissa and I caught up on some American Idol we missed over the week. (DVR’s for the win!) And I’m very happy Amanda finally got voted off. I was sick of her.

Throughout the day Jack got ready for his trip and we dropped him off at the airport a couple hours ago. I have only got teary-eyed once since we left him there. I haven’t had time for any more! I swear as soon as I got home all hell broke loose. The boys wanted a bubble bath and managed to make a gigantic mess in the process. The toilet got plugged up and the internet died twice. I’ve only been a single parent for an HOUR. SHEEEEESH!

Now the kids are in bed and I’m sitting here bored. I should be happy that things are finally quiet but.. I miss Jack. We enjoy our nighttime together alone, watching movies together, playing games together, or watching TV together. Sometimes we just go to bed early and read… but we’re always together. *sigh* I keep staring at the clock trying to picture where he’s at. 8:20PM he was probably boarding the plane. 8:45PM was take off. It’s 9:35pm now so he’s probably close to their altitude and is kicking back with his headphones and PSP. This makes time go by so slow. And he’s going to be gone for another four days! (Yeah I know, I’m pathetic).

To kill the boredom (and attempt to stop staring at the clock) I’m going to surf directbuy bathroom remodeling ideas. Those who’ve seen the kids’ bathroom upstairs know how bad it looks with the ugly paint and counter.. and with the many times they’ve flooded the bathroom floor I know it’s going to need to be replaced eventually.
