On Sunday the local newspaper reported some little girls went missing while hiking with their dad. I kept checking online for an update. I couldn’t stand the thought of 7 and 10 year old girls being lost on their own in the wilderness. They ended up out there all night! They were finally found yesterday morning around 10:30 AM.

All I know that happened is what the newspaper reported: At one point they explain the father and older son that were with these girls walked on ahead of them and assumed they were behind. The father and son got lost and had to call in rescuers to find them and it took them till the next day to find his two girls. The newspaper also claimed this family were experienced hikers. It’s hard to know what to believe. I can’t imagine experienced hikers making so many mistakes that not only do they get lost themselves, but they leave small children behind to get lost as well.

Perhaps this family should be required to wear a device similar to these vehicle tracking devices in the future if the embark on another hiking adventure.
