License to Drive

After getting her permit finalized, getting lots of practice, and giving us lots more gray hair, Kayla is now officially a licensed driver. It was a yucky breezy rainy day today as she took her driving test but despite the elements she passed with flying colors. She gets to drive her car home tonight and she’s now a free young woman to drive herself wherever she wants. (For the most part..) As her mom, dad, and I stood outside in the rain waiting for her to come back from her test, I had knots in my stomach. I remember taking my driving test and how nervous I was. I also got a bit teary. It’s amazing to me how much she’s grown up and what a fine young woman she’s turning out to be.

After we picked up the temporary license, we had her drive us to Freddy’s where we picked her up some air fresheners, an ice scraper, a steering wheel cover, an extra set of keys, and a new key chain. While Kayla had fun looking at all the car accessories I browsed the many many tables of gift items for men they recently got in, including Mizuno golf stuff, hunting stuff, power tool stuff, the usual man stuff to get some ideas for when we do our drawing for Christmas gifts on Jack’s side of the family. (I almost always get one of his uncles..).

I also forgot to mention on here that little Jack’s birthday was Thursday! I almost always do a birthday post for our kids and I totally spaced doing so for Jackie this year. I suck. Especially since it’s another milestone in our family. He turned 13 this year so we are now the parents of …. *gulp* FOUR teenagers. Oh help us, lol.

  1. Four teenagers! I can barely handle one. You are Superwoman.

  2. LOL, I dunno about that but we keep pretty darn busy!

  3. Oh my goodness, what a scary time. I wasn’t ready at all when I started driving.
