Hello world!

Welcome to my new site. The layout is not mine. I found this and fell in love with it so… here it is. It was found here.

This is an extension off our family site; a place where I can post my thoughts freely and basically be all about me. :)

I decided to start this site because I have a billion thoughts in my head all the time lately and needed somewhere to post them, mainly just to get them off my chest.

On October 9, 2004 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. While it shouldn’t have, it came as a complete shock to me. I have known for a long time I was at high risk. For one, I’m overweight. Two, I’ve had gestational diabetes with two pregnancies. The last pregnancy I had to inject insulin to keep it under control. And three, I started having symptoms probably about a year ago but I was in denial that it could be diabetes.

When the symptoms got worse, I continued on in denial. But when one particular symptom got bad enough that I felt I needed to see a doctor, they suggested I be tested for diabetes. I laughed it off at first, till I got home and stared at my old trusty One Touch Profile blood glucose monitor. I swear it mocked me. I tested with my expired strips and the numbers were high. I laughed this off too, thinking it was the expired strips not working correctly.

But still, I decided just to put my mind at ease; I would call the doctor and find out what they had to say. A series of appointments began and within only a couple of days I was diagnosed.

So begins my journey…

  2. What are the different types of diabetes? How does type 2 differ from the others? How many types are there?
