Damages

Who’s been watching the new FX series, Damages with Glenn Close and Ted Danson? I am totally hooked. The show is not at all what I thought it would be, it’s even better. Just a note though, it is definitely not for children.

I’ve always been fascinated with New York so I love that it takes place there. I have always wanted to visit that side of the states, especially New York, but the farthest east I’ve been is St. Louis. I do chuckle whenever I see them driving in New York, though. I was under the impression that most people took cabs everywhere? I know if I visited New York I’d likely need a New York car accident lawyer because I’m not that aggressive of a driver and I’m sure I’d be run off the road in about 10 seconds. :)

Anyway, the writers don’t seem to share my love of New York, in fact, I’ve noticed they’ve been putting a very weird and dark spin on the city; the Statue of Liberty for example. It has come up in many episodes in various ways, each time in a very negative light and in one scenario, a very sinister light. I find it interesting that they used such a powerful symbol in such a way to help tell their tale. I’ve never thought about being afraid of Ms. Liberty… but I am not sure I’ll look at her the same again after this show.
