Cody’s First CD (Shhh, it’s a surprise!)
When I was a little girl, my mom and stepfather got me a personalized book. I have lost many a keepsake or items with sentimental value in my life time, but somehow I’ve managed to always hang on to this book. I could not have been more than 5 or 6 when they gave it to me so I’ve had this book for… well, a long time.
The story was the Flintstones. Fred and Wilma leave Pebbles in BamBam in “Tracie and James’” care. (That’s me and my brother). In the story we end up making a horrible mess then have to clean it up. It was age appropriate and also taught letters. For example, D is for the dishes we have to wash, C is for the cupcake James hid behind the couch, etc. The book also had characters named after two of my friends at the time. I remember reading this book over and over and over and I really cherished it. Now that I’m all grown up, I’ve read it to my kids several times as well. They loved hearing about me and Uncle James hobnobbing with Pebbles and BamBam!
I was asked to review personalized childrens books or CDs. I chose a Fantastic Four CD for Cody. He’s never had his own CD before but he loves to listen to music from our collection (his favorite is the soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean). Imagine how thrilled he is going to be to listen to music that is all about him. Even better, they are sung by his favorite heroes! These include Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, X-Men, and Daredevil. As soon as the CD arrived I popped it into our CD player and was instantly tickled with it. I was worried an audio CD would sound edited whenever they dropped in his name or siblings names. But it doesn’t at all. It sounds like they recorded these songs JUST for Cody! I called Jack and played it for him over the phone and he was impressed as well.
As you can see from the picture the CD itself is also personalized with his name and nickname and says, “With Lots of Love, Mom and Dad”. I got the CD for free since I’m doing a review for it, but the cost would have been only $18.95. That is what a normal CD costs nowadays so it’s incredibly reasonably priced.
Kids like to feel important and they like to see their name in print or hear it in songs. A personalized book or CD is so perfect. (Not to scare anyone, but Christmas is just around the corner!) This one is a keeper as this is going to be one of Cody’s Christmas gifts (please don’t spill the beans!). I am betting he’ll cherish this long after he grows out of it, just like I did with my favorite Flintstones book.
P.S. CodyBadody is a nickname. (Someone actually asked me if CodyBadody was his real name….haha!)
