- Since I have a large family, we have a large grocery bill so I grocery shop a lot. This means I spend a fair amount of time in grocery store parking lots. It never ceases to amaze me that so many people walk to and from their cars knowing full well the lot will be full of cars looking to park, yet they never look up, never look both ways before crossing at intersections and will walk down the middle of a parking isle without moving to either side so cars can pass. I had this happen to me three times in one parking lot yesterday. Insanity.
- Yesterday I had to bring a receipt into a clothing store to get a credit. The skirt and dress I got for our anniversary dinner cruise went on sale the day after I bought it so they were going to honor the sale price if I brought the receipt back. I ended up going to a different store location from where I actually bought it and the sales girls stuck up conversation by asking me what I purchased (they didn’t carry the same outfit) and why. When I told them it was for our anniversary they thought it was so cool that we have been together 13 years in “this day and age”. Turns out both of them came from families that had very little to no divorce. One girl’s parents were married over 30 years and the other girl’s grandparents were married 75 years! Isn’t that awesome? We decided there should be a prize for staying married that long.
- A friend sent me a job lead in email the other day. I checked it out this morning. It all looked great till the part where it said I must be willing and able to fly a few thousand miles to their home office and spend five weeks in training. It didn’t say whether I’d be paying for it or they would. With the “willing and able” wording, I assumed I’d have to pay for it. Then later on in the application process it said the pay rate was $10.75 an hour. Um… how many months would I have to work to pay off a long distance trip and a hotel stay for five weeks at $10.75 per hour? Too long. And if that’s all they’re paying, I’m sure they aren’t paying for the trip. I abandoned the application. They wanted me to work six days a week including nights and weekends anyway. NO thank you.
- We are almost completely caught up on our DVR’d episodes of Burn Notice finally. I’m really liking this show. Has anyone else noticed they always manage to work in yogurt in every episode? Either someone is eating it or they talk about eating it. I like yogurt, but what’s up with that? We’ve also been recording Damages and Saving Grace but have yet to watch a single episode of either. I hope they turn out to be good shows.
- I’m looking forward to new seasons of Jericho, Survivor, and American Idol. But can’t seem to find when any of these shows are airing. Anyone? I know they are having to fit Jericho in somewhere since it was originally going to be canceled but I thought it would be easier to find out when Survivor and American Idol would be starting up again. I’m also still miffed that we won’t get new episodes of Battlestar Galactica until January. I hate it when networks mess with the programming on good shows. They end up killing the series. Remember Firefly.
Awesome show, lots of potential… totally screwed up by messing scheduling.
- We’re armed and ready for going back to school next week. I did most of the supply shopping last month. That’s a first. Usually we wait till the last minute then the stores are out of everything. Not this year! We got everything we needed and some extras to spare. This year my kids are in 3 different schools. Kevin in high school, Melissa in junior high, and my little guys in elementary. So all of my kids will be in school full time this year. This is a first for me. I’ve always had one at home or in school only part time. It’s going to be so quiet around here!
