I know exactly how you feel right now hun. We're going through the same thing. Hubby had an accident in my Blazer last week. He slid on black ice going up the mountain to work and hit the rock wall on the side of the mountain...one of those unavoidable things.

We're looking at close to $5,000 in damage, and the insurance company refuses to fix anything that isn't "viewable in photos." That means we've got to fix the messed up suspension ourselves because they claim it could have been damaged before he spun and slammed into the wall.

We were with Progressive for 7 years with no problems, and we still have Progressive on our motorcycles. We switched to Nationwide for the Blazer because my dad raved about how great they were. This is the only wreck either of us have had to claim in the last 7 years where we were at fault, and we're looking at a $40/month increase. The Blazer is sitting in my driveway with a tarp over it, and we can't even get it into the shop for an inspection for another 2 weeks. It'll probably be another month after that before it's fixed.

Nationwide refuses to give us a rental car because our full coverage "loss of use" insurance was dropped from our policy a few months back. I can't even get an explanation on that! I opted to pay the extra $10 a month to have it, so why isn't it there now when I need it? I sure didn't see a rate decrease!

As soon as we're done with all of this mess we're switching right back to Progressive!

I guess we have been really fortunate in our choice of car insurance company. I've hit two deer, had a guy rear-end me and my neighbor borrowed my car and totalled it and have not had a single rate increase. We've had this insurance company now for 10 years and they have been 100% what they say they are.

It's Progressive if you're wondering.

Hope you get this straightened out.

Hugs,

We just changed car insurance companies because 6 months ago (and we had no accidents) our insurance went up $50. We got the next renewal at the beginning of December, and they jacked it up another $70. Again, no accidents. I would start calling around now to see if you can get a better rate. We went through Progressive online and saved $250 every six months.

I had the same thing happen. I damaged my car, no other property, or person involved and only $800 in repairs. They have been raping me ever since and I have fought with them about it to no avail. They told me I shouldn't have filled a claim. Now, how was I suppose to know that my insurance company that I have paid over $15,000 dollars to over the last 15 years with no claims against would raise my rates a ridiculous amount because of a silly little incident involving a snow bump that turned out to be frozen solid ice?
What the @#$%?
